It is difficult to believe that the 1st term of 2018 has nearly reached an end already!
Please take note of some important issues noted below:
1. Uniform:From Term 2 learners will wear winter uniform. Term 1 and 4 are summer
uniform and Term 2 and 3 will be winter uniform. Please ensure the correct School
beanies, scarves and gloves are worn. If these are not worn correctly they will be
confiscated until the end of term. ANY non-school-approved uniform items will be
confiscated and donated to an Orphanage here in Pietermaritzburg. Suede shoes and
slip-on shoes are NOT part of the Linpark uniform. Learners are to return to school
on the first day of next term, shaven and hairstyles are to be acceptable as per
the school’s dress code. No exotic hairstyles are allowed, and no “skinny” pants
to be worn.
2. School closes for the Easter holiday on Wednesday, 28 March 2018 at 12:30. The
2nd term starts at 08:00 on Tuesday, 10 April 2018, Day 2.
3. Our Sports co-ordinator, Mr. N.R Ngubane, has a busy time planned ahead for all
our sporting teams! Our sports and extra-curricular activities offerear).
4. Parents’ Evening and Collection of Reports for Grade 8-12 will take place on Tuesday,
17 April 2018 at 17:30. Please take advantage of this time to meet with your child’s
teachers and discuss any issues that you may have. PLEASE NOTE: Reports will no
longer be given out to learners. Reports will only be given out to parents or guardians.
5. Staff Changes: Sadly we have to say good bye to our Principal, Mr Schreuder as
he embarks on his retirement. We would like to thank Mr Schreuder for his dedication
to Linpark throughout the years and for the positive changes he has brought to our
school. We wish him all the best on his retirement.

6. School Governing Body: We would like to thank all the parents who came out to
vote at the recent SGB elections. We congratulate all members elected to the Governing
Mrs CA Jonkers- Chairperson , Mr S Zondi – Vice Chairperson, Treasurer - Mrs T Chetty
and secretary – Miss N Mdlalose.
7. Name Tags: Grade 8 learners have received their name tags. We expect all learners
(Grade 8-12) to wear their name tags. If lost, a replacement will cost R65.
8. Homework Diaries: Learners were issued with a homework diary at the start of the
term. Please check diaries for important dates and the school’s code of conduct.
9. Hostel weekend –term 2 is from Fri 27 April – 01 May 2018. (Monday 30 April is
a school holiday).

SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY BY ELECTION 2018
Please find on page 2 the Notice of Nomination and Election meeting which will be
held on Wednesday, 18 July 2018 at 18:00 in the school hall.
There are two parent member positions available. The vacant parent member positions
became vacant due to the resignation of Mr and Mrs de Jager.
Parents/guardians whose names appear on the school’s Admissions Register will be
eligible to participate in the School Governing Body By-election.
Candidates (who must be parents/guardians of learners at the school and who are not
employed at the school) may be nominated to stand for election by submitting a nomination
form duly completed and signed by the candidate and his/her proposer and seconder.
Nomination forms will be available from Mrs Bellars in the school’s front office.
The completed nomination form must be returned to the school at least one day before
the elections are conducted, Tuesday 17 July 2018. Further nominations can be made
at the meeting on Wednesday 18 July. However, the nominated person must be present
at the meeting.
Should a quorum not be reached at this meeting; the next meeting will be held on
Thursday 26 July 2018. An election will take place on this day regardless of whether
there is a quorum.

Our AGM was held on 27 November 2018 where a resolution was adopted for compulsory
school fees for the 2019 year.
1. RESOLUTION: Please find attached our Resolution adopted at the AGM, kindly read
and make yourself familiar with the school fee procedures. Should anything in the
document be unclear, please contact the
Financial Department for clarification.
2. PAY OF SCHOOL FEES: Please find attached the Agreement to pay School fees that
needs to be completed by both biological parents and return back to the Finance Department
before 31 January 2019.
3. EXEMPTION:Application forms need to be collected from the Financial

Welcome to the Esterhuizen House family.
We would hereby like to inform you that the fees for 2019 will be as follows:
- R6 500 per term, or R26 000 per annum
- R750 maintenance fee, payable once off per annum with the 1st terms fees.
1st term fees will be R7 250 payable by 7 January 2019, this includes the maintenance

RESOLUTION IN TERMS SECTION 39(1) AND SECTION 39(2) OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN SCHOOLS
ACT 84 OF 1996, AS AMENDED (“SASA”) FOR THE 2019 SCHOOL YEAR
It is resolved by the majority of the parents in attendance:
1. NOTICE OF BUDGET MEETING
1.1 That notice of the budget meeting was given to parents of the School on 9 October
2018 and that a period of at least 30 days has lapsed since notice was given as is
required by Section 38(2) of SASA.
1.2 That the notice of the budget meeting informed the parents of the School that
the budget would be available for inspection at least 14 days prior to the budget
meeting as is required by Section 38(3) of SASA.
1.3 That the budget was available for inspection at least 14 days prior to the budget
2. ACCEPTANCE OF BUDGET
That the budget as presented, and which reflects the estimated cumulative effect
of the established trends of non-payment of school fees and the total, partial or
conditional exemptions granted to a parent/parents at Linpark High School (“School”),
is approved and accepted.
3. SCHOOL FEES
3.1 That school fees may be determined and charged at the School.
3.2 That the school fees for 2019 will be R16 450.00 per learner, per annum.
3.3 That school fees will be payable in full and in advance on or before 28 February
2019, but that the Governing Body of the School may accept payment of school fees
in instalments, provided that the prescribed agreement to pay school fees has been
collected from the School, completed and returned to the School on or before 28 February
3.4 That should the parents fail to return the prescribed agreement to pay school
fees to the School on or before 28 February 2019, that payment of the full school
fees due must be made on or before 28 February 2019.
4. APPLICATIONS FOR EXEMPTION FROM OR REDUCTION IN SCHOOL FEES
4.1 That the following procedure shall apply for exemption from and reduction in
4.1.1 That all applications for exemption from or reduction in school fees must be
submitted to the School Fee Secretary/Bursar of the School on the prescribed form
on or before 28 February 2019, or within 60 days of change of circumstances.
4.1.2 That single parents/custodian parents may apply for exemption from or reduction
in school fees, without the consent of the other biological parent/non-custodian
parent, subject to the following conditions:

consent of the other biological parent/non-custodian parent.

birth certificate(s) must be submitted with the prescribed affidavit.
220.127.116.11 That the duly completed and signed prescribed affidavit must be submitted
to the School Fee Secretary/Bursar before an application for exemption from or reduction
in school fees may be submitted.
18.104.22.168 That a single parent/custodian parent may not apply for exemption from or
reduction in school fees until the prescribed affidavit has been submitted to the
22.214.171.124 That both the prescribed affidavit and applications for exemption from or
reduction in school fees must be submitted to the School Fee Secretary/Bursar of
the School on or before 28 February 2019, or within 60 days of change of circumstances.
4.1.3 That interviews may be conducted to verify information given by a parent/parents
in respect of any aspect of the application for exemption or reduction in school
fees and prescribed affidavit before an exemption is granted.
4.1.4 That parents may appeal to the Head of Department of the Department of Education
against the decision of the Governing Body of the School regarding exemption from
or reduction in school fees.
4.1.5 That, subject to paragraph 4.1.2 above, the Governing Body of the School must
consider the combined gross income of the parents as defined in the Regulations for
Exemption of Parents from Payment of School Fees (as per Government Gazette R1052
published on 18 October 2006), when processing all application for exemption from
or reduction in school fees.
4.1.6 That the Governing Body may delegate the handling of all applications for exemption
from or reduction in school fees to the School Fee Secretary/Bursar.
4.1.7 That should no application for exemption from and reduction in school fees
on the prescribed form be received on or before 28 February 2019, or within 60 days
of change of circumstances, a parent/parents shall be ipso facto barred from them
later applying for an exemption from or reduction in school fees.
5. PAYMENTS IN TERMS OF SECTION 38A
5.1 That the Governing Body of the School may make application in terms of Sections
38A(1) and 38A(2) of SASA to the Head of Department of the Department of Education
for additional payments to State paid employees working at School for the 2019 school
5.2 That the said application must be made in writing and comply with Section 38A(3)
5.3 That the payments contemplated in this Section of SASA has been reflected in
the school budget.
5.4 That the Governing Body of the School may appeal to the Member of the Executive
5.4.1 the refusal by the Head of Department of the Department of Education of the
5.4.2 the failure Head of Department of the Department of Education to provide a
decision on an application within three months after the lodging of the application
in the office of the Head of Department of the Department of Education.
6. IMPLEMENTATION OF RESOLUTION
This resolution as adopted and passed by the majority of parents in attendance must
be implemented by the Governing Body of the School.
